OCEAN BIB Tech ocean sailing bib with total protection for extreme conditions

Ocean Bib represents the natural complement to the Ocean Jacket and is an integral part of SLAM’s ocean protection system. It is a garment designed to face real offshore and ocean sailing, developed side by side with sailors involved in solo, double-handed and crewed round-the-world campaigns, such as Sébastien Simon, Arnaud Boissières, Louis Duic and the sailors of The Famous Project, on foiling yachts exposed to high speeds and extreme, constantly changing environmental conditions. As with the jacket, the work on the bib focused on a complex balance: reducing weight and bulk without compromising protection. This goal was achieved through the use of more advanced materials and a construction studied down to the smallest detail. The result is a garment that, when worn for many hours or consecutive days, reduces fatigue and improves overall comfort on board. The fabric is developed in collaboration with Toray, a Japanese group that is a global leader in advanced technical materials, known for membranes and fabrics used in the most extreme applications. It features a four-layer construction with mechanical stretch, achieved without the use of elastane. This solution ensures greater abrasion resistance and long-term durability, while promoting a more natural fit and smooth movement even during continuous work. Waterproofing reaches 30,000 mm water column, while breathability is rated at 10,000 g/m²/24h, values designed to guarantee constant protection in an ocean environment, where the primary goal is to keep the body dry and protected even during prolonged exposure. The bib construction is designed to effectively protect the lower body, which is constantly exposed to spray, water and abrasion. Knees and seat are reinforced to withstand continuous wear, while waist and ankle adjustments allow precise fitting over multiple layers. Adjustable elastic braces are designed to distribute weight evenly and ensure stability during movement. The soft Velcro closure improves comfort and fit even during long passages. A practical tool holder, suitable for items such as a Leatherman, is also included, an essential feature on board. Closures use YKK Aquaguard zippers from the special range, water-resistant and fully taped with a polyurethane coating, to provide effective protection against water and wind in the marine environment. Ocean Bib is designed to work in synergy with the Ocean Jacket, creating a complete protection system for those facing true offshore sailing. A garment conceived for prolonged wear, where comfort, reliability and protection are not optional, but essential conditions.
