OD Shoes: Technical Grip and Stability for Sailing
×
On a boat, the deck is never dry. Moving during a manoeuvre, or holding your position with the wind pushing hard: in moments like these, the quality of the shoes you're wearing makes all the difference.
Our OD Shoes are the evolution of a model already trusted by sailors in the One Design collection. The redesign is targeted: upper, comfort and structure have been reworked, while the sole – already proven on deck – remains identical to the previous version. Maximum grip, structural support, sensitivity in movement: three qualities that come together in a lightweight shoe, built for anyone who knows that losing your footing on board isn't an option.
The sole of the OD Shoes is made from Vibram® No Marking rubber, delivering maximum traction even on wet and slippery surfaces. The compound, identical to the previous model, is calibrated to ensure strong hold without compromising durability: a deliberate choice that avoids softer mixes prone to wearing out quickly.
Reliable grip means more precise movement, more stable posture, and less wasted energy during manoeuvres. Every foothold becomes a fixed point from which the next action takes shape.
On a boat, wet feet are inevitable. The real problem is when they stay wet too long: grip drops, comfort drops with it.
The upper of the OD Shoes is built in ultra-light yet highly resistant technical mesh, breathable and quick-drying. They are ready to use again in a very short time, even after prolonged contact with water.
The bellows tongue completes the protection, improving fit and limiting water ingress while wearing the shoe. So every foothold stays stable, every move stays sure.
Sailing shoes need to be light enough not to weigh down each step, but structured enough to provide support and protection.
OD Shoes are built around this balance. The fabric adds no unnecessary weight, while an internal containment structure integrated directly into the lacing system supports the foot through twists and rapid direction changes. As you tighten the laces, the structure itself works to hold the foot firmly without making the shoes rigid.
A small internal bar limits lateral torsion, a slightly wider forefoot ensures stability and a comfortable fit even for wider feet, and the padding on the upper collar and heel adds comfort without compromising on sensitivity.
On a boat, wear is constant: abrasion against deck surfaces, repeated contact with rigging, ongoing exposure to saltwater.
OD Shoes are engineered to handle these stresses without losing effectiveness over time. A four-season shoe, designed for racing, training and long days on board, but also for transfers on the tender and for the moments before and after sailing. Season after season, performance and feel stay constant.
OD Shoes are part of the new SLAM OD System: an ecosystem of clothing items designed to work together, built around the specific demands of One Design sailing.
