Slam on the wings of Foiling Week
The first stage of The Foiling Week Global Tour is over: for four days Malcesine on Lake Garda was the international capital of the foil. An extraordinary event in which enthusiasts gathered to compete against each other, driven by the Garda winds Pelèr and Ora, but also to share news about the future of the sport during the daily forums. Monohull foils, windsurfers, kitesurfers and above all Moths, flew at top speed just a few metres from shore, watched by expert sailors but also by curious observers, fascinated by these yachts that lift above the water. Numerous sailors have answered the call of the foil, including Olympic team members, world champions and experts in sea regattas, but also those who are well-acquainted with high speeds thanks to their experience in the America’s Cup. It was an event packed with intense, unforgettable moments, in authentic sailing spirit.

Upcoming venues for The Foiling Week Global Tour: Miami (USA), Sydney (Australia) and Punta del Este (Uruguay).

Also present at the event were Slam ambassadors Alice Linussi and Francesca Russo Cirillo from the sailing club Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano in Trieste, 420 world champions and soon to conquer the world of 470, who experienced for the first time the sensation of flying a metre above the water. They were not phased by the speed, but truly astonished by it. Foiling is more difficult than they expected, but they definitely had great fun trying out this very different form of boat travel.
